WHY JOIN CLUB SCRUB?
Club Scrub was organized in May 2000 in
conjunction with Jonathan Dickinson State Park officials
to coordinate and promote off-road bicycling. The
southeast portion of the park was designated for phase
one and named “Camp Murphy Off-Road Bicycle Trail” as a
reminder of the parks usage during WWII.
In December of 2000 the club became a “special
committee” operating under the Friends of Jonathan
Dickinson State Park, a non-profit organization with
a mission to assist park management in meeting the
natural and cultural resource management objectives
established for the park.
Future park plans include a “greenway” multi-use
trail that will connect Tequesta and Hobe Sound using
portions of the original Old Dixie Highway. Upon
completion, there will be over 30 miles of multi-use and
off-road bicycling trails within Jonathan Dickinson
State Park.
Your tax deductible membership dollars will help
develop new trails, support trail maintenance and fund
educational programs on environmental issues affecting
the park and the local community.
