Camp Murphy Cyclocross Challenge
Results are in!

Yesterday’s race was a good time! JD didn’t disappoint in providing a tough course, and as the day went on the course got more and more brutal. Between the fast descents, sand, and elevation it seemed like you never got a break. Finding the right line to take in some of the sand was a great challenge. Despite the adversity some of the guys and gals made it look easy with some incredible lap times.

Thanks to all the participants and the great group of volunteers who made it all happen. A BIG thanks to Bryan at Village Bike Shop & Jeff at J-Town bikes for hooking us up with some great prizes for the competitors.

-Bill

Camp Murphy Criterium Course

As part of the new expansion north of the trailhead, Club Scrub will be using an old section of paved roadway as a designated criterium course.  The 1.2 mile course features long sweeping corners and some challenging elevation changes.  The course will not be open for day to day use, but will be made available for designated training and race events.

The Florida Road Cycling Association has released its tentative schedule for the 2007 race series, and the Camp Murphy Criterium course will be used by Treasure Coast Racing as the venue for their September 8th event.  Club Scrub & TCR will also be using the course for the summer crit series.

MONUMENTAL MULCH MARATHON!

The next Club trail work day will be Saturday July 21st. Meet at the Camp Murphy trail head at 8:30. Bring plenty of water, landscaping tools and sunscreen. Mulch will be provided - to the tune of 10 pallets (750 bags). The work day will be followed by a BBQ lunch and refreshments which will be served at the Loxahatchee pavilion by the river area swimming hole. C’mon out and help us subdue some sand!

Tick Tock!

Bike Patrol is on the way

Martin County Parks and Recreation & Martin County Sheriff’s Dept. are endorsing an effort to develop a volunteer bike patrol.   This multi-agency effort is being put together to assist land managers with the thousands of acres of public lands that are being made available.  In case of emergencies in these remote areas the bike patrol may be called in to assist with lost persons.  The IMBA portion of the training and more information was held on Saturday, December 9, 2006 at Halpatiokee.
If you are interested in becoming part of the bike patrol please e-mail Steve at steveb@clubscrub.org or Will White at willdeb@adelphia.net

Ocean to Lake Greenway Celebration

Here are the Ocean to Lake ride options for this Sunday:

 Cypress Creek loop: 27 miles

 Riverbend Loop: 36 miles

 C-18 Canal Loop: 45 miles

All loops begin and terminate at the Eagle's View area in JD. The route is pretty simple so the shorter loops will be self guided. Any stragglers will get picked up by returning riders since the 'loops' are out and back (except for the Cypress Creek area which is a 9 mile figure 8). There will be refreshments available at various points along the route. Riders are encouraged to bring plenty of water, spare tubes / patch kit, sun protection and a rain jacket. Following the ride there will be food and refreshments at the river area. Registration is available the day of the ride.

The Greenway consists of a contiguous swath of 140,000 acres of public parks, natural lands and rights-of-way that extend between Lake Okeechobee and the Atlantic Ocean. The lands are in both Martin and Palm Beach Counties. Some are well established areas such as Jonathan Dickinson State Park and both Dupuis and Corbett Wildlife Areas, while others were purchased fairly recently as part of efforts to protect open spaces and natural areas, and to preserve lands needed to restore the Wild and Scenic Loxahatchee River.

The Celebration will provide events for both amateur and experienced recreational athletes. Distance events include backpacking, horseback riding, off-road bicycling, and paddling. Many of the distance events include opportunities for camping, and because of the "one-way" nature of the Greenway, shuttle transportation will be arranged back to the trailheads on a daily basis.

Osprey is open!!

On September 30, 22 Scrubbies put in 142 work hours into the trail.  We cut about 350 yards of new trail in the Osprey section to open all of the South area.  A lot of trimming was done, some additional clearing North of the trailhead, and some work on the crit loop was also done.  The trail is back to just about 10 miles.  Thanks for a great turnout!

IMBA’s National Take a Kid Mountain Biking Day!

We had a good time on Saturday, Oct 7th for IMBA’s “Take a Kid Mountain Biking Day”.  All in all we had about 25 kids and parents show for what turned out to be a great day.  Most of the kids came from Mack Foster’s class; he’s a teacher at Limestone Creek Elementary in Jupiter.  We had a few first timers, and they had a lot of fun.  Bringing the kids out to JD was a good opportunity to get the kids involved in a great outdoor activity.  Thanks to all who came out and thanks to our sponsors Tabica Grill & Clif Bar for donating the hot dogs, chips, and snacks for the event.

Come join Club Scrub on September 30, 2006 at 8:30am to participate in National Public Lands Day.  We will be getting our hands dirty to keep your public lands enjoyable.  National Public Lands Day is the nation’s largest hands-on volunteer effort to improve and enhance the public lands Americans take pleasure in.  In 2005, nearly 90,000 volunteers nationwide built trails and bridges, planted trees and plants, and removed trash and invasive plants.

Join us for the 13th annual National Public Lands Day at Jonathan Dickinson State Park and help us take care of many club projects.  We will be working on the Osprey trail loop, rebuilding some damaged land bridges and reconnecting several sections of trail.  We will be trimming the overgrown areas and mulching some sandy spots.  We have also recently expanded Camp Murphy into the land north of the trail head, where we will be scouting new trail.  Also new to the Camp Murphy trail system will be a 1.2 mile paved loop of roadway.  We will be clearing some debris and patching a few potholes, preparing this section for future criterium road riding.

After the work day, please join us for a BBQ lunch at 2:30 down by the Loxahatchee River at the Loxahatchee Pavilion.  We'll have chicken, hamburgers, hotdogs, sides, and drinks to thank you for all of your hard work on this day and throughout the year.

July is Tour de France month at Tabica Grill!

July is Tour de France month at Tabica Grill.  July 1 - 23rd coinciding with the actual tour, Tabica will run a special menu that features french recipes and wines from the regions the guys will be racing through.  They also have the restaurant decorated with racing bikes and other tour paraphernalia.  The bar will be showing the tour replays on OLN every night.  They are having a raffle for a $500 gift card at J-Town bikes along with other prizes.  The raffle proceeds will be donated to Club Scrub!  Tabica is also offering Club Scrub members $5 off your tab when you spend at least $10 when you show your membership card.  Get this discount anytime during the tour dates and use it as often as you would like!

During July we will be moving the start and finish of the Tuesday Night Urban ride to Tabica.  We'll do the same route as usual, but cap off the night with food and drinks at Tabica around 8pm.  They will have some cool wraps and sandwiches available for us on ride night, so even if you don't ride come join us for a quick bite and watch the tour.

Also in July will be the Gatorback III - Tabica Time Trial at the park.  Come test your metal at the Camp Murphy trail on Sunday July 30th where we will host the hottest MTB time trial in Hobe Sound.  Plaques for the top finishers and all the bragging rights your friends can stomach.

Tabica Grill has been a huge supporter of the Club, so join us in support of one of our incredible sponsors.

Gag Water rises from the ash

We had a great turnout for the work day on Sunday Feb. 26 th .  20 hard working Scrubbies came out and made quick work of the Gag Water Bridge .  We were also able to spruce up the Half Pipe too.  Kudos to Dorsey and the Park for setting us up with what we needed to get the job done.  Dorsey from Aldrich Rentals in WPB came out with the big guns.  His tool box included, among other things, a gas powered auger that dug the posts in no time at all.  Mark, the Park manager, set us up with a boat load of lumber.  We went through every scrap of it and then some!  Thanks guys, and thanks to all the folks who gave up their Sunday morning to help rebuild.

First post-fire maintenance day

Saturday, seven intrepid souls braved a fierce Florida winter storm – hard rain and temps in the 60s – to begin restoration of our biking trail. Outfitted in quality-trash bag raingear they made good use of some treated lumber left by an anonymous benefactor to open two more trails – Ranger and Fire Ring. They also not only restored the old Kmart land bridge, but doubled the size of it.

Many thanks to Larry, Mike, John, Jason, Bryan, Bill, and Bryan for their hard work, and thanks for the hot chocolate from Carol.

We'll announce the next maintenance day soon so keep posted. Phase two will include work on the Lake loop where we will start fixing up Snake Pit, the Half Pipe, Gag Water Bridge , and the Roller Coaster.

Club Scrub Meeting

We'll be having our first club meeting of the year on Monday, February 6 th at 6:30pm.  We will meet down by the river at the Kitching Creek pavilion.  After the meeting we'll get a toasty bonfire going and we'll have some tasty beverages.

Members of the CS board met with Park management this week to work on some of our ongoing projects, including the trail head expansion, and the recovery effort from the recent fire.  Mark Nelson and Martin Morse from the Park will attend and bring everyone up to speed on the current events in the park and answer any questions we might have.  We'll discuss the expansion project plans which will include expanded parking, pavilions, BBQ area, sidewalks, water for a bike wash, and a new information kiosk.  Also on the agenda will be upcoming events including the TT series, a benefit 30 mile ride, a Club Scrub sponsored Adventure Race, and a 3 day Fat Tire festival.  Club Jerseys and the possibility of a wheel eating gator race team will also be discussed.

We have a lot to talk about and a lot of things we would like to do this year, so please come on out and show your support for the Club and get involved.  Club Scrub needs you!

SOME OF THE NORTH TRAIL SECTIONS ARE OPEN.

Bill, Steve, Jason and Frank inspected the entire burn area Friday morning. Tortoise, the East side of Fire Ring and 8/10 trails are now open. Ranger, Lake, Middle Ridge, Osprey, and the west side of Fire Ring will remain closed for repair. We'll start working on Ranger and Fire Ring first. We should be able to open them soon as there is only minor damage from a couple of firebreaks.

TRAILS REMAIN CLOSED FOR A FEW MORE DAYS.

Frank and Steve will continue inspecting the trails Friday morning. We'll tape off the sections that are unsafe and do a little rerouting to open the rest. Look for a maintenance day soon. It's going to take a bit of work to get Osprey open again.

TRAILS TEMPORARILY CLOSED DUE TO FIRE.

SHOULD REOPEN BY 1-17-2006

As part of its ongoing forest management program, the park conducted a controlled burn Friday and Saturday. This weekend's controlled burn included some sections of the trail. Lake Trail and Middle Ridge burned completely. The north end of Osprey also burned. The south part of Osprey, which is very scenic, was protected by firebreaks. However, those firebreaks block the trail at several points. It will probably take a couple of maintenance days to reconnect those trail sections.

The Gator Hole burned. That may be good news to some riders. The little bridge at the start of the Gator Hole is gone. We probably won't replace it since the palmettos it crossed are gone as well.

Unfortunately, the new Gag Water bridge built by the Boy Scouts was damaged. About fifty percent of the bridge is gone. Also, some sign posts will need to be replaced.

Park management believes the trail will be safe to reopen by Tuesday, January 17th.

Hurricane Clean Up- Part II

This Saturday (11/12/05) at 9:00 am.

We had an excellent turn out last weekend and put in about 90 man hours clearing debris. Thanks to all that participated. We will continue clearing 8/10ths and Osprey next Saturday (11/12) and hope to have the entire trail cleared by Sunday. Please come out and lend a hand. Bring hand saws and loppers. Chain saw operators must have the appropriate safety equipment. Hope to see you there!

Bill Meyers New Club Scrub President.

The Club Scrub Board of Directors voted unanimously to elect Bill Meyers as the new president. Steve Bucina will serve as acting VP until a suitable replacement is nominated. Bill has been a tireless proponent of the club over the last two years and has been instrumental in sparking some new life into the organization. Please join the board in congratulating Bill on his new position.

Hurricane Clean Up!

This Saturday (11/05/05.) Meet at the trail head at 9:00 am with saws and loppers. Chain saw operators must have protective chaps, work gloves and eye protection. Almost all of the trails on the east side of the park have a considerable amount of downed trees and debris. A good turnout will enable us to get the majority of the trail open in one day. Please come out and lend a hand!!

Sandblaster Time Trial Squeezes in Ahead of Wilma

Twenty-five riders showed up for the Sandblaster Time Trial in spite of Hurricane Wilma's impending arrival. The Club collected over $300.00 in donations plus we signed up 11 new members. [Results]

Come Out and Ride!

The Camp Murphy bike trail is in great shape due to the consistent rains that we have been having over the last few months. Some chronically sandy areas persist but are being addressed with planking and mulch. Bunker Hill, just east of the trail head, remains closed for rerouting. This area is the ‘black diamond’ trail requiring advanced bike handling skills. The first new section should reopen by the end of the year.

Volunteer turnout for maintenance days has been phenomenal – we usually have ten to fifteen hearty souls braving the heat and horse flies. The work days are on the third Saturday of the month from 8:30am until noon, followed by food and refreshments provided by the club. Help is greatly appreciated so come on out and lend a hand!

If you have not experienced the Camp Murphy trail and would like to give it a try there are a few weekly group rides that welcome newcomers of all skill levels. Mountain bikers are a friendly bunch so come on out and introduce yourself! Riders meet at the trail head Thursday evenings at 6 for a lap before dark. There are also group rides on Saturday and Sunday mornings leaving the trail head at 8:30. Once daylight savings time ends on October 30th we will be having night rides once a month on the week of the full moon. Lights are mandatory!

Please remember that helmets are required at all times for riders using the Camp Murphy trail system. Bring plenty of water, dress appropriately and ride within your limits!

Steve Bucina

Sandblaster Time Trial

Hurricane Report

The park is closed until further notice. Steve Bucina and Bill Meyers walked the trail Sunday. The damage from Wilma was not nearly as bad as from last year's storms. The worst hit was Tortoise with lots of small trees down. Osprey has a large tree down. We're working with the park to schedule a clean up day as soon as possible. With a good turn out we can clear ninety percent of the trail in one day.

Maintenance Day this Sat., Oct. 15.

Meet at the trailhead. - 9:00 am

We need to spruce things up for the Time Trial, so we are going to get some mulch and cut a few downed trees.  Bring your rakes, shovels, and gloves.  Don’t forget the water and sunscreen too.

Donations Needed for Purchase

Club Scrub recently purchased an equipment trailer. The 6' X 10' x 6'-6" trailer will serve as storage for the large cache of tools and materials now owned by the Club. Thus, we are now gladly accepting your tax deductible donations towards the purchase if anyone would like to pitch in. Donors will have their name printed on the side of the trailer. The size and location of the sponsor on the trailer will be directly proportional to the amount donated. For more information contact Steve. His contact information can be found on our contact page. All donations will be accepted, however there will be a minimum amount for placement on the trailer.

Maintenence Day!

This Saturday, March 19, meet at the trail head at 8:30 AM for a morning of sandblasting made possible by the now more-than-annual mulchfest.

Bring your hammers and pry bars. We’ll dismantle and use what we can from the remains of the old Gagwater Bridge to help stabilize some extra nasty spots.

It is starting to get hot again so make sure you have plenty of water; and put on some sun block lobster boy, no one likes looking like a tourista!

Maintenance Day
Saturday January 22, 2005

We're having a work day this weekend - January 22nd, 2005. We'll meet at the trail head at 8:00 a.m. Refreshments will be provided. Please bring rakes, shovels, gloves and your Ho's! Tell everyone you know. In fact, inform even those you do not know and most importantly people who are
not or would not be interested in joining us. For instance, if you see someone on the street that looks completely apoplectic; perhaps all of that anger could be put to good use moving mulch and the like. If your
earnest inquiry is met with a sardonic tone, let them know of this grand opportunity to assist with such a noble cause of trail repair and maintenance! If you now observe a murderous look on their face, turn away from them and flee, posthaste.

The work is expected to take about 3 weeks, but it could last longer. Please use caution when riding in this area.

June 25, 2004

Yep, that's right. No maintenance (work) days until October 23, 2004. Take the summer off. Go Ride. Go on a trip. Do something productive. Just Have Fun! Hopefully it will be a rainy enough summer to pick up the slack. If any areas become too bad, we will send out a special notice that we will be working on a particular section at a particular time. This cancellation in no way gives anyone permission to modify the trail in any way unless it is approved by Steve Bucina. Violation of this will result in a sever flogging where you receive massive head wounds courtesy of a Thomson seat post.

There is a work day this Saturday - March 20, 2004. This is the last one before our Race next weekend so we need each and every one of you to come out and help us prep the trail! If you have never been out for a work day, you have no clue as to the fantastic enjoyment and extraordinary satisfaction that can come of a few hours helping to maintain the trail. Of course, if you don't show up then I will send four capacious meatheads to your domicile with orders to draw and quarter you... which, by all accounts, is an extremely unpleasant experience that most people choose not to endure. Well, planning is already underway for our next Race at JD! This time around we will be doing a distance race. Yep, that's right, 100k of JD. We need a lot of help to pull this off and you are receiving this message because we think you can help us! The first official Race Planning meeting is going to be this Monday, December, 1 2003. The meeting will be held at the Quarterdeck Bar & Grill Indiantown Road in Jupiter at 7:30 PM.

We need to get everything rolling as quickly and efficiently as possible since we only have a few months to bring this event together. If you really want to help out the club and bring an exciting event to JD, come out to the meeting and become part of the team. Planning a race of this magnitude and complexity is not easy, especially since this is our first go at it. In other words, we need your help, so if you think you can lend a hand in a serious and dedicated fashion, come on out to Quarter Deck on Monday December 1 @ 7:00 PM. Please, no tire kickers...

Club Scrub Meeting Notes
November 10, 2003

Monday night 20 people showed up at our quarterly meeting to show their support and voice their opinions. Many important decisions were made.

It was decided a Race is to be planned for Spring. The race will consist of at least two categories, 100k and 50k and possibly a third 25k if turnout looks good. Adrienne is heading up this committee and a date will be set soon. The Trail Patrol project is moving ahead with plans for a club wide CPR and First Aid certification course in the works. The Adopt-A-Trail project is well under way now with many of the main problem areas adopted. A new trail maintenance organizer has been appointed. Jan will now take care of making the arrangements each month for advertising, food, and beverages.

Thanks again for all of you who showed up. Our next meeting will be in a few months. We filled the conference room this time, hopefully we will have as good or better turn out next go around.

Club Mud Women Visit Club Scrub
November 8, 2003

This past weekend, the monthly "flow" ride of Club Mud came north to JD to ride. Cat from Club Mud Says the following: "I just wanted to thank the folks at J.D. and Club Scrub for giving us a great trail to ride this past Saturday. The trails were in fine shape, and a scrubby trail maintenance volunteer let me give a new logover obstacle a test ride. There's always something fun about riding something before all of the bugs have been worked out..." read the rest of Cat's comments on the message board.

Africa Hot Workday!
Posted July 22, 2003

14 hearty souls defied the heat and put in some serious trail maintenance time on Saturday. The new trail extension at the southern end of the Osprey loop was finish cut and signed. Frank, Jason, Adrienne, Ian and Walt “Bush Hog” Philipson put in over 7 hours of back breaking work. This extension should add about ˝ mile to the Osprey and will eventually become a stand alone loop. A second team of volunteers mulched from the trail head to the hourglass section. Park equipment was not available due to the recent fire so mulch was moved using wheelbarrows, Brian’s diesel pickup and lots of muscle. Thanks to Brian, Shawn, Dan Tuesta, Mike, Robbie, Pat and Michael Samz, John Lee and Mike Lugo for all the hard work. Thanks again! - Steve Bucina

New Expert Obstacle
Posted June 24, 2003

A new obstacle was recently added to the entrance of Bunker Hill. It is intended to prevent children and inexperienced riders from entering this area and injuring themselves. Bunker hill is an advanced skills section. The obstacles are intentionally difficult and go around's are not provided. Please use caution when entering this area. And, as always, ride within your limits. View Photos of the new obstacle here.

Trailer Donation
Posted June 10, 2003

Seair Dynamics donates bike trailer to Club Scrub. The bike trailer is very light weight and super strong. It can carry up to 100 lbs of gear or mulch to remote areas of the trail. The trail section we are currently building is the most distant from the service road, so the trailer is perfect for getting tools to the work site.

Maintenance Days - Please Read
Posted: May 21, 2003

Beginning in June we will be trying out a few new ideas to get more volunteers to show up for maintenance days, inform more people that the trail system is maintained by a few volunteers, and that no gate money goes toward trail maintenance. In our meeting last week, we discussed many ideas and are beginning to implement a few of them. Thank you to those of you who were there and contributed positive comments toward the discussion. Starting in June we will add a Wednesday evening maintenance ride each month for those of you otherwise unavailable on weekends. This time will be spent as a scouting and trimming ride. Also starting in June we we begin rotating work days between the third Saturday and Sunday of each month, in addition to the new Wednesday night maintenance session which will be the Wednesday prior to the weekend maintenance day. June will have a maintenance day on Wednesday the 11th & Sunday the 15th... July's will be on Wednesday the 16th & Saturday the 19th, etc. A new little section has been added to the left that will list the upcoming maintenance days. As always, all maintenance days and events will be announced on the Yahoo! Group List.

Trail In Good Shape. . .
Saturday, September 28th, 2002

PARK DONATES MULCH
Sunday, March 10, 2002

Park management donated several loads of mulch. The mulch was chipped from downed vegetation in the park. It consisted of: South Florida Slash Pine, Sabal Palm, Turkey Oak, Beautyberry, Coco plum, Gallberry, Staggerbush, Lyonia, Saw Palmetto, Wire Grass, Gopher Apple, and others. The trail crew has been using the mulch for the last couple of weeks. They report that the mix is tuff and fibrous, perfect for covering the sandy areas. Thanks to Mark, Martin and Don.

NIGHT RIDE
JANUARY 30, 5:30:

Sign in at the front gate by 5:30. Ride begins at the trail head a 6:00.

MOUNTAIN BIKE RACE:

Race Results and Pictures to be posted soon.

Big Turn Out For Night Ride:
Sunday, December 01, 2001

Fourteen riders showed up for Friday’s full moon night ride. Conditions were perfect, with clear weather and a fast trail. The park is normally closed after sunset, but once a month, during the full moon, we are allowed a group ride at night. If you haven't tried it, grab some lights and come on out. It's a blast. Watch the forum for details on the next ride.

New Loop Open:
Sunday, November  25, 2001

The new loop beginning at point 15a (see planning map) is now open. This segment adds .85 miles to the trail. The new loop is rarely level as it winds up and down an ancient sand ridge now covered with scrub oak and pine. There is a sign post marking the entrance with a blue arrow. Turn right at the post to ride the loop, turn left to bypass it. This new segment brings the trail total to 6.05 miles

Gagwater Bridge Added to Half Pipe:
Sunday, September 23, 2001

Flood water from recent rains have blocked the west exit of the Half Pipe effectively splitting the trail in half. Giving no thought to their own safety, Steve, Dave, Jason and Aaron waded ankle deep into the dangerous waters to construct a bridge (OK., catwalk) so that the rest of us can ride in comfort (more)

New Trail Segment Nears Completion:
Sunday, September 23, 2001

The last remaining trail segment on the current planning map is nearly complete. The loop begins at point 15a on the map. It heads south to point 15 and then returns to 15a. The loop features one of the old Camp Murphy building foundations, a couple of nice drops and one or two jumps.Several more weeks of work are needed to reinforced the drops and apply the Mulch-A-Matic treatment The trail should be open by late October and will add another mile to the trail system. Thanks to Frank and Jason for keeping this one going in spite of the summer heat.

Rain and Mulch help trail:
Sunday, May 27, 2001

The mulch fest continues with an additional 460 bags donated by Jerry Paolucci, owner of Build-Tec. In the last month, nearly 1,000 bags of mulch have been applied to the sandy sections of the trail. That combined with the recent rain has greatly improved the riding surface of the trail. Today, the parking area was filled to capacity as riders enjoyed the hard packed trail.

MMats Professional Audio donates $500.00:
Friday, May 18, 2001

Ken Speranza, President, MMats Professional Audio, presented Club Scrub with a check for $500.00. MMats Professional Audio manufactures high end audio equipment. The company is located in West Palm Beach.

Trail is in great shape:
Friday, May 4, 2001

Mulch-a-Mania, Sandbuster, and rain have all combined to firm the entire 5.2 miles of  trail. If you haven't been riding because of the sand, get out there now! It doesn't get any better than this!

Bottom bracket attacked by armadillo:
Friday, May 4, 2001

Jason and Frank were enjoying a ride this evening on the freshly packed Camp Murphy trail when the unthinkable happened. An armadillo charged from the underbrush and crashed into Jason's bottom bracket. "The thing came at me like a raging rhino," Jason said. Fortunately for the rider, the armadillo passed under the bike and did not exhibit the classical "jump" reflex that often afflicts armadillos. This "jump" reflex is thought to be powerful enough to flip small automobiles from the highway.

Mulch-a-Mania:

Build-Tech donates much mulch. Thanks to Jerry Paolucci, owner of Build-Tec for the donation of 460 bags of mulch. Team Berm immediately began working their mulch magic. In two weekends they covered over two miles of trail! Jerry said he has another 460 bags waiting to be delivered. Up to now, Steve Bucina has been footing the bill for most of the mulch.  Thanks to Jerry, Steve, Bill, Jason, Ian and Dave, a lot of the sand on the trail has been eliminated.

Earth Day Celebration:
Sunday, April 22, 2001

Club Scrub's booth was a popular place at the Earth Day Celebration last week. The guys sold a bunch of T-shirts and handed out a lot of membership applications. According to one source, if these applications are actually sent in by the people who picked them up, our club ranks are about to swell with the addition of a number of retired Yankees. Thanks to Mark and Martin for protecting our booth from the crazed mob trying to get their hands on our new Club T-shirts.

Earth Day Celebration:
Sunday, April 22, 2001

The annual Earth Day celebration is this Sunday (4/22) at the park from 10:00 A.M. until 4:00 P.M. Club Scrub will have an awning tent at the river recreation area. We will be passing out membership applications and t-shirts will be available for an $18.00 donation. Steve needs volunteers to help man the tent for 2 hour intervals. Please contact him ASAP if you can provide support.
